Our core program spans eight nine-week terms, with one-hour lessons. Students progress from guided learning to finished projects and showcases. New students are placed at a suitable term based on their experience, and progress is guided by the skills they demonstrate in their work.

A glimpse of the eight terms

Term 1: Foundations

Get comfortable in Logic Pro, explore song structure, and create a structured track using edited loops.

Term 2: Arranging and Ear Training

Arrange music with confidence, recognise keys and clashes, and shape a song with transitions and a clear build.

Term 3: MIDI and Beats

Discover MIDI, make original beats, and combine drums, bass and other sounds into a short track.

Term 4: Playing and Building

Record original parts with a keyboard, develop melodies and chords, and shape a song with a peak and breakdown.

Term 5: Writing and Recording

Develop song ideas, write lyrics, record vocals, and use effects to bring a song together.

Term 6: Shaping Sound

Explore EQ, compression, limiting, reverb, delay and creative effects to refine a track.

Term 7: Automation and Mixing

Use automation to add movement, then balance and mix a complete track.

Term 8: Mastering and Releasing

Polish a finished song, prepare its release materials, export the final files, and share the completed single.

Take a more focused role behind the desk. Explore microphone choices, ensemble recording, multitrack editing and mixing, then develop screen-audio skills through dialogue, ADR and Foley.

What you’ll create

Build a portfolio of studio recordings, mixes and a short audio post-production project. ADR is replacement dialogue recorded to match a scene.

Two-hour weekly workshops, plus project time and selected extended studio sessions.
